The Feast of Fools

The Feast of Fools, Dzieci's benefit celebration, is held annually on April First. The event brings together elements of the Fool's Mass performance with the Dzieci Workshop.

Guests are invited to an ivy-strewn, candle-lit banquet hall with enormously long tables overflowing with food. There they are greeted, served, fed, and entertained by the colorful and eccentric characters from Fool's Mass.

After a seven-course meal of fish pie, hot mead, and other period delicacies, the evening progresses along increasingly absurd lines, culminating in a free-for-all, with drumming, dancing, an auction of Rare Holy Relics, and people jumping off tables into each others arms.

As with the workshops and performances, once experienced, the Feast of Fools becomes a yearly must, forever engraved in one's calendar.

"I had a wonderful time -- it was the best party I've been to in a long time!"
Reverend Ruth Garwood

"Feast of Fools nourished my heart in ways that made it impossible to focus on any task but love -- all day long!"
Glee Bartlett

"...a balm and a boon to my battered soul. You blew away every whiff of sacred sanctimony, which of course leaves the inner core of faith, hope, and charity burnished bright."
Tom Driver, Professor of Theology and Culture Emeritus, Union Seminary
